Have you ever wondered how many Peruvians live in the United States? Being Peruvian and living in another country can make you miss Peru, especially if you are not around other Peruvians. There is something special about being able to wear the Marca Peru or Escudo Peruano and have others recognize it. Thankfully, the Pew Research Center released some numbers on the number of Peruvians living in USA and where they are located.
According to the article, there are 628,000 Peruvians living in the US. That includes both those who were born in Peru and those who have Peruvian roots. Also, 65% of them speak English proficiently!
When it comes to what state has the most Peruvians, Florida takes the top spot, as approximately 20% of Peruvians who live in the United States live in this state. It is followed by California with 18%, and then New Jersey with 13%.
The 2010 Census also has information on how many Peruvians live in each state. While we know which states have the most Peruvians, North Dakota is the state that has the least Peruvians, as only 78 live in this state! It is followed by South Dakota with a Peruvian population of 138.
Do you live in a state that has a lot of Peruvians? Let us know in the comments!
